hungry?: Hugo's Restaurant

anyone who knows me knows that I LOVE HUGO'S.

(i didn't take this picture....but it's a great one!)

Hugo's is a great restaurant that provides quality, tasty, healthful cuisine that caters to everyone regardless of dietary concerns.  i was introduced to this by my friend mary a long time ago and i have been a devoted follower ever since.  i have friends who are celiac/gluten sensitive, diabetic, vegan, vegetarian, and i myself am lactose-intolerant (but cheese....i love you cheese....), but at hugo's, DOESN'T MATTER!  they serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner and every dish is delicious (seriously, i've tried half of the menu one way or another...) while it has the potential to be slightly pricey, they have one of the BEST deals in town:  the create-a-plate.  what is the create-a-plate you ask?  basically you pick 3-5 items from their selection of veggies/soups/side dishes, a sauce (if you wish), and if you want for a little extra, a protein (and they have a TON-fish, tofu, turkey, steak, chicken, and everything in between), and the portions are generous if not HUGE.  if you don't want it all separated on a plate, you can get it all mixed into a bowl (called the create-a-bowl, obviously).

so the other night i brought three of my friends to Hugo's, two who had never gone before, and i was feeling a little adventurous with my usual create-a-plate of roasted sweet potatoes, sauteed leafy greens and garlic spinach....and i tried their sliced roasted turkey breast with the honey chipotle  sauce.   i've had the honey chipotle before because i've heard about this sauce from my wonderful pal/colleague mary kate, who has celiac and knows all things delicious, but protein-wise i've only tried the new american veggie patty since i'm a flexitarian (meaning i'm about 90% vegetarian but there's that 10% where i need MEAT.)  kids, it DID NOT disappoint.  the turkey was moist and tender, and the sauce was quite complimentary to the entire plate.  and the best part is that this GIANT plate of veggies is $12.65 and proteins are an additional $5-9.50!  hear that guys?! HEALTHY EATING ON THE CHEAP!  and with two locations in town, you can't go wrong.  why are you waiting?!  GO.
